art and stories from around the world (6-8 yrs old)

We’ll use our looking skills for some careful noticing of what we see in works of art from The Met and then share what we discover with our fellow art explorers. The artists who created our focus artworks come from all around the world. We’ll learn a story from each artist’s culture and think about how and why stories are told.

art and drama (9-11 yrs old)

We’ll be exploring works of art throughout the many collection areas of The Met, noticing what there is to be noticed and sharing with our friends. Then we’ll use our bodies to bring postures to life, create tableaux, invent settings, construct characters, write monologues and scenes and even make a few puppets. Each session will have an opportunity to share theater-making inspired by our works of art.

art and writing (12-14 yrs old)

We’ll be exploring works of art throughout the many collection areas of The Met, noticing what there is to be noticed and sharing with our friends. Then, we’ll take inspiration from our focus work of art to create poems in a variety of forms and to write short stories, songs and dramatic scenes while focusing on descriptive language and literary devices. Every session will have the opportunity to present work and share about process.

Museums around the world (15-18 yrs old)

Each week, we’ll travel the world and spend time at a different art museum through their online portal. Together, we’ll explore the origin of the collection and a couple of its central works of art. We’ll spend some time with each artwork and share with one another what there is to be noticed through the unique perspectives of our group members.

family time with art (3-5 yrs old)

Each week, we’ll focus on a different theme. We’ll spend some time together looking and sharing as we explore our theme through works of art at The Met. We’ll sing together, we’ll move our bodies and we’ll listen to a story.
